Over the cold winters, embroidery would be worked to get ready for spring with freshly stitched linens for the house and clothing for everyone. Spend some time this winter learning how to jazz up the fabric in your life using traditional Ukrainian embroidery techniques! Not only are the patterns beautiful, but they’re also a little mysterious and magical.

In this four week class you’ll learn a variety of Ukrainian embroidery techniques using traditional patterns.The first three classes will cover different techniques and stitches and in the final class we’ll go over finishing techniques and uses for small embroidered works.

We’ll cover

  • basic cross stitch
  • finishing stitches and techniques
  • working with waste canvas
  • embroidering with beads
  • woven stitches
  • history and symbolism of patterns

Skill level: No previous experience necessary!
Class fee: $70 + $35 kit fee payable at the first class
Supplies needed:

  • # 2 Nurge hoop or 6” round wooden embroidery hoop
  • small sharp embroidery scissors
  • all other supplies including fabrics, threads, beads, patterns and needles are included in the class kit
