Learn colourwork sock techniques to while knitting the Herding Hens Sock Set!
With methods, tips and tricks recommended by designer Charlotte Stone of Stone Knits, learn to knit the charming and Insta-trending Herding Hens socks.
We will be looking at fit and sizing, needle choice, ease of colourwork method, knitting with three yarns in one row, colour theory, as well as tips and tricks for creating beautiful socks. Students will learn the drop method for these colourwork socks, incorporating three different colours in one row while maintaining colour dominance.
Colourwork portions can be knit on a 9-inch circular needle, double-pointed needles (dpns) or 32-inch circular needle for magic loop. For colourwork ease, the 9-inch circular needle is strongly recommended (2.75 mm). The instructor will use a 9-inch circular needle for the leg and foot and dpns for an afterthought heel. Students may bring needles according to preferred sock-knitting style (magic loop, dpns or 9-inch circular) and heel choice (afterthought or German short row method).
