& Friday evening, May 2 6pm to 8pm
Our popular introduction to spinning with a wheel class moves to Friday night! Bring your wheel or rent one (rental cost is $115, payable directly to Maureen and covers a rental throughout the class from April 18 to May 2) while we discuss the anatomy of a spinning wheel, principles of spinning, and how-to create your first skein of handspun two-ply yarn
Week One (April 19 - 3:30 - 4:30)
Pick your rental wheel OR bring your own wheel for assessment to confirm it’s in good, working order. We do not offer wheel repair services at this time so it’s imperative that your wheel is functional unless you want to rent one of ours. You’ll depart with a supplied handbook to browse in readiness for the next class. Your homework will be to practice treadling
Week Two (April 25 - 6pm to 9pm)
Sit down to learn to spin! Discussion includes fibre types and preparation. Homework between week two and three includes spinning. All the fibre you need for class will be supplied as part of your kit fee which is included in cost to register
Week Three (May 2 - 6pm to 8pm)
Learn to ply and set the twist. Voila! You’ve completed your first skein of yarn
Skill level: Beginner
Class fee: $160
Supplies needed: All materials are included in cost of class, except wheel rental which is to be paid separately directly to Maureen, if required
