We recently got in a new yarn from SMC Select that made me go ooooh when I first saw it. SMC Select Mariette is a sportweight-ish soft single ply yarn with tiny sequins scattered throughout. Knit up, it looks kind of like those big fluffy perfect snowflakes of the first snowfall. It comes in tiny 25g balls that are just so precious! Each ball has 84 meters and it comes in a nice range of colours with some good neutrals and softer shades that look even better in real life. When I saw this yarn, I knew I had to make myself something with it. I bought a few balls and thought about it. While I was working on my Windowpane Mittens I thought how the stitch reminded me of comfy waffle henleys and would look great as a lightweight… Read more »

On US 15 needles this cowl will be done in a jif so it’s a great gift knit too! You can download Mojo Jojo here! You can also find it on Ravelry here!
A couple of weeks ago, I was hanging out with the Shibui yarn and fell in love with the Mineral colourway. The only problem was that I could not decide which yarn to knit with, Silk Cloud or Pebble. The solution? BOTH! Shibui has a great collection of patters under the Mix umbrella. It’s a neat concept – their colourways are consistent across the different yarn lines so that you can combine two different yarns of the same or different colourway for neat effects. We are IN LOVE with these patterns at the store. As soon as I finished this hat I picked up more Silk Cloud to knit Gradient. And Mona’s working on Strata. If you haven’t come in to the store to check out these yarns, you really need to. Multigrain is a new one that looks just… Read more »

Festival is almost over, but you can keep your Voyageur spirit going with this fun hat!! Using less than 1 skein of the new Rowan Pure Wool Worsted this hat knits up quick. And with 50 colours to choose from, there is a colour for everyone! You can download the pattern here or pick up a copy at the shop! This hat would also work great in any of our worsted weight yarns such as Cascade 220, Malabrigo Rios, Sweet Georgia Trinity Worsted and More! Here you can see it in action at a Voyageur pancake breakfast with its fantastic tassel. My son said that it was the best Voyageur hat there because his mom knit it and real Voyageurs probably had their moms knit their toques too!
