Wolseley Wool

Fav Yarn Friday – Corie is getting Tweedy!

One of my favourite things in a yarn (other than a good, woolly squish) is tweed. I love my pullover in the Rowan Felted Tweed, I can imagine I’m wandering around an old library in my tweed sweater (just needing suede patches on the elbows Emoji) Other than the Felted Tweed and Rowan Valley Tweed, we haven’t really had that many tweed yarns in our store.
Until Universal Deluxe Tweed Superwash. It’s so great! A worsted weight super wash, I’ve used it for a couple of gift knits. First is the TinCanKnits Stovetop Hat, an aran inspired cabled cat topped with a glorious pompom. The cables worked up nicely in this yarn, and in the porcelain colour, it’s good to know that it can be washed.
The second gift is Churchmouse Knits’ Very Gifted Cowl, one of my favourite gift patterns. It’s a great pattern for trying out a new-to-you yarn, because it’s a plain stockinette cowl written out for every weight of yarn from fingering to bulky.
The yarn is a worsted weight super wash yarn, 218 yards to 100g. It’s a plied  90% wool, 7% acrylic and 3% viscose.
I think it would be adorable for baby knits, like the Gramps Cardigan by Kate Oates or classic in the Oban Sweater by Thea Colman.
