We’re kicking off some new blog posts with some introductions to staff new and old so you can get to know us a little better. Today we’re introducing Clare, another newer member of the team here at Wolseley Wool. Clare brings such a fun energy every time she walks into the store and is great at helping people find the perfect yarn for their projects!
Clare started knitting when she was in the 6th grade because she wanted to make leg warmers (they were rainbow!) Pictured above is her most recently finished project and her first sweater for herself is the Tin Can Knits Snowflake sweater. That pop of colour at the top is fantastic!
Right now, Clare is busy working on a sample for a class she’s teaching at our annual retreat (more info on that here). The Scandinavian Double-Knit Hat is knit using the double knitting technique so both the inside and outside of the hat have a pattern. It’s totally reversible! She’s knitting it in Cascade 220 Superwash Merino, a great easy-care yarn that’s soft and comes in some great colours.
Right now, Clare’s favourite yarn in the store is a toss up between two Olive Park Yarns – the Riverdale socks which come with a full skein of sock yarn and a coordinating colour for heels and toes in colour ways inspired by the show Riverdale. She also really likes the Olive Park Yarns Tweed Sock. She’s really drawn to the rich dimensional colours dyed in Morris, Manitoba by a mother and daughter team.
Clare’s favourite thing about working in the store is seeing what people are making and getting inspired by it all. She also loves just playing and touching all the yarn.
